Music Fest organizer Peter Mackey had always wanted to bring different musicians together. He wanted people to be able to
see the talent and different kind of music in the area. After discussing his plans with friends and family, the Music Fest
eventually came about. When the question of money came up, everyone agreed that it should be used toward something
beneficial. Mackey found it hard to choose just one good cause. The Children's Wish Foundation was the chosen cause, for
it includes not just one, but all children's life-threatening diseases. After contacting the foundation, he was told that
the money goes directly to a child in the area the money is raised.
The Music Fest has about 80 volunteers, doing various jobs before, during and after the event. Any money left over is put in
a pot and goes towards additional wishes. The Music Fest has donated $108 000.00 over the last eleven years.
